What's in My Head Wednesday for 04.04.12

Hello, faithful reader.  Welcome back to WIMHW.  This is a day for what's on the mind of yours truly.  Especially the new, inward looking, ever-shrinking, moi.  Today we look at my closet, boosted self-esteem and a shout out for success.

Triple X
I perused my closet yesterday, ready to hit the road for work (I'm in outside sales for those that didn't know, or care, for that matter).  My eyes moved to the suit I wore on Saturday night.  A classic blue, subtly pin-striped number.  Until recently, I had stopped wearing it due to the snugness around the waste, particularly from the jacket.  Nothing worse that a fat guy in a tight suit, a la Oliver Hardy.  When sporting it on Saturday, along with the tailor-made dress shirt I bought for my wedding and not worn since, I noticed that I stood a bit taller and felt more confident than I had in a long while.  The pants are now too big, but are within reason for acceptable wear.  In my closet was also a yellow short sleeved Oxford shirt that has hung neglected for years, too small for my expanded frame.  What the hell.  I know it is a 3x, but what have I got to lose?  Take a chance and try it on.  I ceremoniously removed it from it's hanger, slipped it on and grabbed the middle to give it a test drive around my belly.  Perfect fit!  Yes!  3xs are back in my vocabulary.

I know you are sitting there wondering, "3x?  What's the big deal?  That's a mighty big shirt."  But for a man that once donned 7x shirts that could have doubled as car covers for a Hummer, this is what floats my boat.  One more step toward normalcy.  It also means being able to buy cheap interim clothes at stores like Walmart.  They carry 3x in a variety of styles.  So today, we celebrate a small victory.  This weekend, I bring my Mom some clothes to alter for me.  Mostly pants to take in.  3x cheers for me!

You go Girl!
A huge shoutout to CPA, in Point Pleasant, NJ.  She messaged me this morning with the news that she just got back from her own weigh-in.  She lost 3.6 lbs. this week and 17.2 lbs. in the last 2 months.  If that weren't enough, she has gotten herself a new bike and rode 5 miles!  Great job C.  You motivated me get my ass out the door this evening for a nice walk.  Keep up the great work!  We all can inspire each other here.  Tell me of your successes.

Walking Tall
A number of people have come up to me as of late and exclaimed how good I looked, even one or two that presumably didn't know about my new lease on life.  It's nice to have unsolicited compliments.  Makes you wonder if the confidence I felt helped initiate the offering of kind words. There is no doubt that self-confidence is a key component how people perceive us.  Don't worry though.  I'll be sure to keep it in check.  A little goes along way.

What I ate today and how I exercised:

Breakfast ~ 2 eggs scrambled with fresh chives and 2 chicken sausage links.  A great start to the day for only 275 calories.

Lunch ~ I had a rare treat today and had lunch with my great friends S&T.  S told me she would have something 'light' for me.  God love her.  I walked in to see a spread that looked like the Borgata buffet.  In addition to what I ate (some red pepper frittata, salad, broccoli rabe and a wee, thin pork cutlet) there was fresh mozzarella, chicken salad, prosciutto and coffee.  At least there was enough options to gracefully bow out of the naughty stuff.

Dinner ~ Lunch was a bit much, so for dinner, a meager Boca Burger on a whole grain sandwich thin.

Exercise ~ 1.8 miles walking
